Clinical Dietician (URGENTLY HIRING)

The Clinical Dietician plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to the physician’s diagnosis. He/she is an active member of the multidisciplinary team which routinely evaluates the needs of the patients. He/she screens newly admitted patients to identify those at nutritional risk. The Clinical Dietician works with the patient and family to identify dietary needs and requirements, setting up a plan for them to review and follow and also consults and provides education for newly diagnosis patients with dietary restrictions/special requirements.
– Responsible to ensure patients are assessed nutritionally in a timely manner.
– Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
– Communicates professionally and clearly to patients, families, management, co-workers, and physicians.
– Collaborates with clinical departments to establish that the patient’s dietary needs are met and changes in the patient’s condition are communicated to allow for further evaluation for proper nutrition to meet the patients current condition.
– Responsible in training and educating the dietary staff regarding quality improvement and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.
– Demonstrates knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
– Verbalizes the department’s quality control and/or quality improvement elements.
– Assists in maintaining the regulatory requirements or accreditation standards within the department.
– Performs timely nutritional assessments on all new patients.
– Maintains responsibility for nutritional adequacy and adherence of menus to prescribed diets.
– Develops a nutritional care plan for each patient, includes cultural and/or religious preferences.
– Assesses nutritional status, develops, and charts patient’s comprehension of diet information. Performs nutritional intervention when necessary.
– Calculates diet for diabetic patients and other therapeutic diets and provides education and/or counseling for all patients on modified diets who require it.
– Evaluates the results of nutritional intervention on the patient’s nutritional status to determine the need to revise the nutritional plan of care.
– Improves patient’s nutritional status by consulting with physician on appropriate nutritional interventions.
– Works with the physician and speech therapy as needed for optimal nutritional needs.
– Responsible for orientation and training including in-service education related to nutrition.
– Provides nutritional teaching and counseling to patient/family in making desired changes in eating habits.
– Provides nutritional-drug interaction information to patient.
– Documents assessment and recommendations on all patients receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
– Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field
– Current Certification as Registered Dietitian (RD) in the State of California required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
– One (1) – year experience as a Clinical Dietician in a healthcare setting required.
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively educate and counsel patients on nutrition-related topics

SALARY RANGE:
$33.65 to $ $47.15
