X-ray Technician – PER DIEM
Job description
SUMMARY:
Performs radiological procedures and testing based on approved departmental standards. Responsible for carrying out assignments and technical procedures in a manner that demonstrates proficiency, relative to the application of prescribed ionizing radiation, to facilitate medical diagnosis and treatment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Demonstrates knowledge in the theory, techniques and practices of radiology including modalities that he/she is licensed to perform.
– Transports patients as instructed, to and from treatment area.
– Demonstrates knowledge of the indications, contraindications, equipment and radiological testing procedures for adults and geriatric patients.
– Demonstrates knowledge of radiological dyes, including dosages, side effects, indications and contraindications for the patient population served.
– Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate patient positioning techniques for patient population served, based on functions ability and testing requirements.
– Demonstrates the safe and efficient use of radiological equipment, which includes calibration, testing, maintenance of control logs and radiation protection.
– Follows up with patient education regarding radiology tests and exams with the patient and/or family.
– Maintains defined practice standards for the provision of diagnostic imaging.
– Uses proper body mechanics when moving patients.
– Files exams timely on the medical record.
– Promotes patient and employee safety through demonstration of compliance with safety and infection control process.
– Completes and keeps current all mandatory in-services, modules, competencies, licenses, and annual updates (professional licenses and certifications). Updates annual health requirements.
– Able to adapt to new conditions or procedures quickly and without resistance as demonstrated by implementation of new/revised policy, used of new equipment/skill responsibility, accepts new or additional duties assigned.
Schedule:
– Occasional weekday availability
– Must take 1 week of call/month.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
– Current valid State of California Licensure as a Radiology Technologist with Fluoroscopy.
– A.R.R.T. (preferred)
– Current BCLS certification
– Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program.
EXPERIENCE REUIREMENT:
– Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute care facility or equivalent experience in clinical portion of training.
– Experience in an acute care hospital (preferred).
Salary: $30.00 to $39.50 per hour
